Education Session Tracks:

 

Claims & Litigation
This track will offer presentations that include case studies and a treatment plan for the care of high risk diagnoses in the ED, an integrated delivery system approach to claims management, lessons learned and skill development in fostering a patient safety culture, recognition of key security liability areas, using medical injuries data to decrease sources of liability, and using demonstrative evidence in defending malpractice actions.

 

Enterprise Risk Management
NEW: This track will offer insight into how to help today’s risk manager perform beyond the traditional risk management role by examining the need and offering strategies for facilities as they evolve in taking an organization-wide approach to risks. Participants will also learn how the risk manager can be empowered by demonstrating the financial, strategic and operational benefits of an integrated approach to an enterprise risk management (ERM) program.

 

Legal & Regulatory
This track will offer presentations that focus on current information related to legal and regulatory issues involving EMTALA, HIPAA, the JCAHO survey process, and regulatory issues related to medical error reporting.

 

Patient Safety
This track will offer topics including managing critical events, addressing liability exposures in clinical settings, prioritizing and utilizing organizational resources, and educating staff and leadership to enhance a patient safety culture.

 

Risk Financing
This track will offer participants a concentration of the financial aspects of the risk management process – from the most current developments in the insurance market to innovative approaches in professional liability insurance. New ways for hospitals and doctors to work together also will be covered.

 

Special Topics
This track will help risk managers develop the safest patient environment possible and stay current with innovations. The latest information on topics regarding everyday issues will be provided.

Also, each concurrent session is ranked by educational level: Essentials or Applications/Advanced. Essentials sessions are designed for the beginning risk management professional or someone who wants a refresher course on a certain topic. The Applications/Advanced sessions are designed for the more experienced risk management professional who desires in-depth analysis and study.
