American Academy of Pediatrics
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and its member pediatricians dedicate their efforts and resources to the health, safety and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults. The AAP has approximately 55,000 members in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Members include pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists and pediatric surgical specialists.
American Ambulance Association
The American Ambulance Association represents ambulance services across the United States that participate in serving more than 95% of the urban U.S. population with emergency and nonemergency care and medical transportation services. Formed in 1979 in response to the need for improvements in medical transportation and emergency medical services, the Association services as a voice and clearinghouse for ambulance services across the nation. The Association views prehospital care not only as a public service, but also as an essential part of the total public heath care system.
The American College of Emergency Physicians
ACEP is a national medical society representing more than 23,000 emergency physicians, who are specialists in emergency medicine. The organization and its members are committed to improving the quality of emergency medical care through continuing education, research, and public education.
American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine
The American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP-ASIM) is the nation's largest medical specialty organization and second-largest physician group. Its member- ship comprises more than 115,000 internal medicine physicians and medical students. Internists are specialists in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses that primarily affect adults.
American Medical Association
Founded 155 years ago, the American Medical Association is the largest medical association in the world and is the nation's principle advocate for patients and their physicians. It sets standards for the medical profession and is an influential voice in matters affecting health care and medical practice. The AMA's work includes the development and promotion of standards in medical practice, research and education; a strong advocacy agenda on behalf of patients and physicians; and the commitment to provide accurate, timely information and discourse on matters important to the health of America.
American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology
The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) is the largest radiation oncology society in the world. ASTRO's 7,000 members are committed to advancing the scientific base of radiation therapy and to extending the benefits of radiation therapy to patients with cancer and other diseases. ASTRO's members are physicians, nurses, biologists, physicists, radiation therapists and other scientists who specialize in treating patients with radiation therapies. ASTRO's membership consists of health care professionals from distinguished community hospitals as well as major research centers in the United States and abroad.
Association of American Medical Colleges
The Association of American Medical Colleges is a non-profit association founded in 1876 to work for reform in medical education. Originally representing only medical schools, the Association now comprises the 125 accredited U.S. medical schools, the 16 accredited Canadian medical schools, 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems, 90 academic and professional societies representing nearly 100,000 faculty members, and the nation's medical students and residents. Additionally, the administrative leadership of medical schools and teaching hospitals are served by a variety of professional development groups housed within the AAMC.
American Hospital Association
The American Hospital Association (AHA) is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Close to 5,000 institutional, 600 associate, and 27,000 personal members come together to form the AHA.
Founded in 1967, the American Organization of Nurse Executives
(AONE), a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association, is a national organization of nearly 4,000 nurses who design, facilitate, and manage care. Its mission is to represent nurse leaders who improve healthcare. AONE members are leaders in collaboration and catalysts for innovation.
American Public Health Association
The American Public Health Association (APHA) is the oldest and largest organization of public health professionals in the world, representing more than 50,000 members from over 50 occupations of public health.
ComCARE Alliance
The ComCARE Alliance is a national coalition dedicated to deploying and linking existing technologies in a "chain of survival." By integrating E 9-1-1, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), transportation systems, and information systems, we will reduce the impact of auto injuries and improve transportation efficiency, saving thousands of lives and valuable resources every year.
Emergency Nurses Association
Founded in 1970, the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) is the world's largest membership organization -- more than 22,000 individual members -- devoted to the advancement of emergency nursing practice and emergency care. ENA's vision is to define the future of emergency nursing and emergency care through advocacy, expertise, innovation, and leadership.
The Federation of State Medical Boards
The Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc. was founded in 1912 and is comprised of medical licensing and disciplinary boards of the United States and its territories. As such, the Federation is positioned as a leader in medical licensure and discipline, and is an authoritative source of research, policy development, education and information. The Federation's primary mission is to improve the quality, safety and integrity of health care by supporting and assisting state medical boards in the protection of the public.
International Association of Fire Chiefs
Established in 1873, the International Association of Fire Chiefs (ICHIEFS) is a powerful network of more than 12,000 chief fire and emergency officers. Our members are the world's leading experts in fire fighting, emergency medical services, terrorism response, hazardous materials spills, natural disasters, search & rescue, and public safety legislation
NACCHO is a nonprofit membership organization serving all of the nearly 3,000 local health departments nationwide-in cities, counties, townships, and districts. NACCHO provides education, information, research, and technical assistance to local health departments and facilitates partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies in order to promote and strengthen public health.
National Association of EMS Physicians
The National Association of EMS Physicians is an organization of physicians and other professionals who provide leadership and foster excellence in out-of-hospital emergency medical services. NAEMSP was founded in 1984 to serve as an advocate and resource for the EMS physician and other EMS professionals. Less than two decades later the NAEMSP membership has grown to almost 1,300 physicians, paramedics, nurses, administrators, educators, researchers and key EMS professionals.
National Association of Local Boards of Health
The National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) represents the interest of local boards of health and assists them in assuring the health of their communities. The goals of NALBOH are to provide a national voice for the concerns of local boards of health and to assist them in obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively protect and promote public health in their communities.
National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems
The National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems represents over 100 hospitals and health systems that together comprise the essential infrastructure of many of America's largest metropolitan health systems. Since its inception in 1980, NAPH has cultivated a strong presence on Capitol Hill, with the executive branch, and in many state capitols. Our association has made significant strides in its twenty-year history in educating federal, state and local decision makers about the unique needs of and challenges faced by member hospitals and the nation's most vulnerable populations.
National Association of State EMS Directors
The National Association of State EMS Directors is the lead national organization for EMS, a respected voice for national EMS policy with comprehensive concern and commitment for the development of effective, integrated, community-based, universal and consistent EMS systems.
Visiting Nurse Associations of America
VNAA is the national membership association for non-profit, charitable and community-based home health agencies, known as "Visiting Nurse Associations (VNAs)." The mission of VNAs is to provide compassionate, cost-effective, and the highest quality home health care to those in need of such services regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.” Because most VNAs were established decades (if not more than a century) ago and are directed by voluntary boards of local community leaders, they are deeply rooted in their communities. Most (if not all) VNAs are part of a community network that ensures that the neediest individuals receive proper nutrition, immunizations, nursing and rehabilitative care when appropriate, and other social services.
